Band Biography
Anatol (drums) and Marc (bass) used to play allready together in multiple bands in the past. After the last project ended they decided to continue playing together and searched for other musicians who share the same taste as them. It appeared that Leo (guitar) was also looking for a new band to play along with, so they founded WD40 together in winter 2016. In spring that year Ralf (sax) joined the band with the intention to give a touch of jazz to the band. After many years of talks between Anatol and Sébastien (keys) to jam one day, finally it happened in summer that we all met in Wankdorf Bern and the chemistry as well as the style intention was right from the start. So we decided to keep on playing and started covering, rearranging and writing pieces. In the beginning we decided to be a funk band, but the longer it went on together, elements of various styles such as acid jazz, cool jazz, modal jazz, disco, reaggae, world music and rock where included to the set.
As the barracks where we used to practice in Wankdorf were about to get demolished we moved to a different band room in Eigerplatz Bern. During 2017 we called us 21gramz but then in 2018 came back to our original name WD40. Since then WD40 gave several instrumental concerts and is also performing songs with guest singers, for anybody who likes the same music we do.
